Detwiler appointed to state school board director position

LANSING, MI

– Northview Public Schools President Tim Detwiler was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Board of Directors of the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB). Tim will serve as the regional representative for school board members in Ionia, Kent, Lake, Mason, Mecosta, Muskegon, Montcalm, Newaygo, Oceana, Osceola and Ottawa counties and will help shape the direction of the Association.Tim is an experienced board leader, having held the positions of board president, vice president and legislative liaison on his local board. He has achieved the Master Platinum Award in MASB’s certification program and has written about and presented on assessment, curriculum development and institutional research. Committed to his own continuous development, he holds memberships in many state and national organizations and has been involved at the local, state and national levels.

Tim sought this position to use his experience and knowledge to help boards of education in their governance role and to work for the good of all Michigan communities. “It’s my passion to assist school boards in their decision-making responsibilities,” said Tim.

The MASB Board of Directors governs the association and oversees activities, establishes operating policy that furthers the mission of MASB and acts as the voice for more than 600 member school boards across the state.
